General Description of Post
The Senior Playworker is required to assist in the running of the 3time project at the above centre between the hours of 4:00 to 6:00 p.m. (M/W/F) 1.00 to 3.00 p.m. (S) (plus ½ hour preparation time), Monday Wednesday Friday & Saturday for children aged between 8 to 12 years.
Job Purpose
Working under the general direction of the Teacher to assist in the service delivery of the 3time project.
Principle Duties and Responsibilities
1. Under the general direction of the Manager or Teacher, works within a team environment to organise facilitate and lead a range of play based activities which include sports, arts and crafts, games, drama, dance, trips, multi-media and adapted activities.
2. Under the general direction of the Manager or Teacher, responsible for planning and organising all play activities in accordance with National Standards relating to session planning and delivery.
3. Under the general direction of the Manager or Teacher, ensures that equipment is properly maintained and fit for children and staff, prepares activity areas for children and staff, transports and erects equipment during activity changes.
4. Under the general direction of the Manager or Teacher, be responsible for delivering play activities within The Renewal Trusts operational procedures and policies with particular reference to customer care, health and safety.
5. Whilst on duty assumes responsibility for the safety and welfare of children under his/her supervision.
6. Under the general direction of the Manager or Teacher, ensures that the activity areas are maintained to a safe level and in accordance with The Renewal Trust’s procedures and policies.
7. Liaises with colleagues, Teacher, other internal and external relationships on day to day operational matters and refers any difficult position to the Manager for advice and assistance.
8. Under the general direction of the Manager or Teacher, liaises with parents, carers and customers on day to day information related to activities generally on matters related to service delivery.
9. Works closely with colleagues on matters related to the day to day delivery of the service.
10. Participates in training and development programmes both external and internal. Shares information gained at external events with colleagues and promotes development of the whole staff team.
11. Actively engages with the Staff Supervision Policy.
12. Under the general direction of the Manager or Teacher, takes responsibility for the unlocking and locking of premises in accordance with The Sycamore Community Centres procedures and Policies and procedures.
13. Under the general direction of the Manager or Teacher contributes to the set up of activities at the beginning of sessions and clean down at the end of sessions.
14. Any other duties as reasonably directed by the Manager or any member of the management team.
15. Responsible for the recruitment and supervision of volunteers
