General Description of Post
The Teacher / Senior Teaching Assistant is required to run the 3time project at the above centre between the hours of 4:00 to 6:00 p.m. (M/W/F) 1.00 to 3.00 p.m. (S) (plus ½ hour preparation time), Mondays Wednesday Friday & Saturday for children aged between 8 to 12 years.
Job Purpose:
To support young people and children at the project with their learning and to provide other educational and recreational activities, taking into account age and abilities, to meet their learning and development needs.
Principle Duties and Responsibilities
1. Planning and preparing a programme of learning sessions and activities for groups and individuals.
2. Teaching and supporting children and young people with their learning and providing other educational activities according to their educational needs with guidance and advice on educational and social matters.
3. Assessing, recording and reporting the progress, development and attainment of children. The above Duties and Responsibilities 1, 2, & 3 must have regard to the children’s school homework, the curriculum in their school, and the National Curriculum.
4. Managing, briefing, supporting and supervising the Play worker assisting with the projects programme of educational and recreational activities
5. Establishing a supportive relationship with children and parents, promoting the progress and well being of children and communicating and consulting with parents and other agencies.
6. Maintaining good order and behaviour among the children and young people. Safeguarding their health and safety within the centre, other authorised places and entering and leaving the premises.
7. Participating in team meetings, contributing to the centre’s management plan, carrying out administrative and organisational tasks related to the above duties.
8. Working within a framework of equal opportunity, encouraging acceptance and inclusion of children and young people with special needs while promoting and reinforcing their self-esteem.
Staff supervised by the postholder: Play Worker and volunteers
Postholder’s immediate supervisor: Centre Manager
