£50,000 SPLASH EXTRA funding provided a wide range of summer holiday activities for local young people across the area in 2002. This allowed us to host our biggest ever summer activity programme.

By working with local community centres and voluntary organisations we provided a wide range of exciting activities such as football, basketball, sports coaching, drama, DJ skills, art, craft and video projects plus trips (including London and Leicester Carnival) and visits to places of interest. The programme ran from the 22nd July to the 30th August 2002 over the school holidays most days of the week at the centres below:

  • Sycamore Millennium Centre
  • Chase Neighbourhood Centre
  • the ACNA Centre
  • the Greenway Centre
  • Sneinton Hermitage Community Centre
  • St Christopher's Church Hall
  • King Edward Park

This was a wonderful opportunity for local children and young people to develop their life skills and experiences while having a fun filled summer holiday. Feedback from the police and Youth Justice Board indicate that the SPLASH EXTRA programme made an overall reduction in youth offending in the areas covered of over 6% during the summer.
