Sycamore Barn
The sports barn has been empty and unused for in excess of three years. Condemned in Spring 2002 by a City Council Health and Safety Inspector due to its uneven, broken and generally unsafe floor, a result of poor drainage and breached floor liners.
The Trust has pulled out all the stops to raise the £67,000 necessary to fully excavate and relay the wooden sports floor, whilst also increasing the local drainage capacity.
The works contract was awarded in March 2003 to William Woodsend Construction Ltd, who anticipate completing works by late Summer 2003.
Unfortunately, as a result of the protracted drying time for such a large area of concrete the Barn is unlikely to be available for this Summer's programme, but should provide a high quality, affordable venue for local individuals, clubs and youth groups from September onwards.
